Becoming a Patient of Elessar Psychiatry

Elessar Psychiatry provides thoughtful, responsible and compassionate outpatient psychiatric care for adults in Utah and Colorado. Our goal is to offer grounded, collaborative care tailored to the individual.
To help ensure we can meet your needs, we recommend reviewing the information below prior to scheduling.

Who We Serve

At this time, Elessar Psychiatry provides outpatient psychiatric care for adults and children ages 7 and older.

We offer virtual and in-person appointments in Utah and Colorado, and virtual-only appointments in Montana, depending on your clinical needs and availability.

Due to state licensing requirements, you must be physically located in the state where your appointment is provided at the time of your appointment.

Level of Care

To ensure we provide safe and effective care, Elessar Psychiatry is best suited for individuals seeking outpatient psychiatric services.

At this time, we may not be the right fit for those requiring higher levels of care, including:

  • Active psychosis

  • Acute suicidality or safety concerns

  • Significant violent behavior

  • Court-ordered psychiatric treatment

  • Long-term disability evaluations

  • Primary treatment for substance or alcohol use disorders

  • Active substance withdrawal

When appropriate, we are always happy to help connect individuals with resources or referrals better suited to their needs.

Additionally, emotional support animal evaluations/documentation are not services we currently provide.

Our Approach to Responsible Prescribing

At Elessar Psychiatry, medication decisions are made thoughtfully with safety, evidence, and long-term wellbeing in mind. When controlled medications are considered, we follow careful prescribing practices designed to provide effective treatment while minimizing risk.

This may include:

  • Prescribing within FDA-recommended dosing guidelines for controlled substances

  • Avoiding combinations that may increase safety risks (such as benzodiazepines with opioids or certain sleep medications)

  • Periodic monitoring and reassessment to ensure medications remain appropriate and beneficial

  • We continually review both established and emerging treatments, staying up to date on evidence to recommend the most appropriate options — guided by safety, effectiveness, and long-term outcomes rather than trends.

For ADHD treatment, current guidelines and evolving regulations may require that initial evaluations or certain visits be completed in person. When appropriate, follow-up care is often provided virtually. We continue to monitor changing healthcare regulations and adjust our practices accordingly so you don’t need to worry about it.

Our goal is not simply to prescribe, but to partner with you in thoughtful, evidence-based care that supports sustainable improvement and long-term health.
